Abstract

The final semester of university is often a challenging period for students, particularly the process of writing a thesis, which can potentially trigger anxiety. Resilience and social support are two factors that are thought to influence students' anxiety levels. Based on this, this study aims to determine the relationship between resilience, social support, and anxiety in final-year students. This study involved 190 undergraduate psychology students, who were enrolled in a thesis course (33 males, 157 females), selected using non-probability sampling techniques. The instruments used in this study were the Resilience Evaluation Scale (α = 0.907), the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (subscale for significant others α = 0.930, subscale for family α = 0.912, and subscale for friends α = 0.891), and the Anxiety Subscale from the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-42 (α = 0.889). Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis indicate a statistically significant relationship between resilience, social support, and anxiety. Thus, this study suggests that final-year students experiencing anxiety in completing their thesis can be assisted by strengthening psychological aspects, particularly by enhancing resilience and social support, especially family social support.
